The picture speaks for itself ~ this is what happens when you have a chalkboard wall and two 7 year old boys. Need I say more?

coffee is my best friend
Can I say I LOVE coffee? I know the side effects can be bad for your health, but I love coffee. I love it when it is 5am in the morning and I love it when it is super cold outside. Without coffee I would be a walking zombie most of the time. I drink probably 2-4 cups a day...sometimes more...sometimes less...but usually more. Just saying, I love it!

Robert: I have never seen a squishy rock before...
Dad: Give me that...that's a jelly bean goof!
Robert: How do you know, it looks like a rock, it's black.
Dad: Because when I squished it I could see the sugar inside.

I'M BACCCKKK and Donald Trump for President
Hey ya'll! So sorry for the 2 week hiatus, it has been CRAZY busy here in the Campbell house.
I posted a few weeks ago about baseball taking over our lives and I kid you not it is overwhelming but sooo much fun! My oldest son who plays catcher (and is darn good at it) got a compliment from the other team after the game on Tuesday. Thrilling!
Not only have we been consumed with baseball at every turn but there are insane wildfires here and it burned down the deer lease we are on! My husband went down there last night, after 2 weeks they finally opened up the roads, out of 1,000 acres and 12 deer stands, 800 acres were burned and 4 deer stands made it out untouched...OURS was one of the 4! As soon as we found out the fire was moving in that direction we began praying fervently, when he arrived last night to the lease he found that the fire had come within 2 feet of our camper and burned all around his stand and up to the legs of the deer feeder, but our belongings were untouched!
No one can say prayer is not powerful, God reached his hand down and placed it over our stuff protecting it.
We have had hospital visits, and yard work, tree cutting and yard mowing. All keeping me away from this oh so fun hobby I have began! But I am back!!! School is almost over for the kids, spring clean up of the yard has been done and baseball, well that is no where near done but I think life it on it's downward slope to not so busy.
I have lots of great stuff in store, new How Often Do You Clean It ideas, new makeup reviews, and a few new crafts I will be posting soon! So hang in there with me, we'll be back on the ball before you know it!
Now on to more interesting things....Donald Trump for President??? I know he hasn't officially announced his intention to run, but come on...I'm pretty sure he is. I have been watching him on the Today show and I have to say, if he runs I am SO voting for him! What do you think? Have ya'll seen him talking about it? What are your thoughts, do you think he is just the right man to get our country on the right track at last??? I am so intrigued by this!

Robert to Chance: What's your favorite color?
Chance: Camo
Robert: Camo is NOT a color!
Chance: Yes it is! They have camo duck tape, that makes it a color!
Robert: Camo is like a polkadot. It's not a color.

No How Often Do You Today
I am so sorry friends, I know you eagerly await Thursday for one reason,
hits the blog...(just kidding I am not that full of my self...) really though, I am going to have to skip this week I hope ya'll understand...while my son was catching at his baseball game last night he was hit by the batter with the bat. The batter hit a ball so hard it went to the fence, when he hit the ball he let the bat fly back FULL SWING AND REALLY HARD and it his my son in the shoulder. He immediatly hit the ground twitching and crying, was rushed to the ER for a possible dislocated arm or torn ACL. After several hours and scares they thought his growth plate was fractured, so they put him through more xrays and determined there was no frature, just severe bone and muscle brusing. THANK GOODNESS! After 5 hours in the ER, and 1 slinged arm later we were home.
So today I am taking the day to baby my baby. Check back next Thursday for the oh so exciting post on WINDOWS!!! Pictures will be complete with dirt, hard work and squeaky clean windows.

The Greatest Woman EVER
11 years ago today the greatest woman to ever touch my life passed away. My mother.
She was no saint, in fact while growing up I couldn't stand her. She was the every problem in my life. Both my parents were alcoholics and both suffered desperately with the disease, low self esteem, the need to keep up with the Jones'. Even though we traveled to every tropical place known to man, lived in a nice house, and had good cars neither of them was ever really happy. When my dad was sentenced to 4 years prison for drunk driving my mom slipped into a depression. On the exterior she seemed happy, but behind closed doors she was a hollow shell. I was left to fin for myself from the time I was 12 until she met and married my step dad at 16. And even after that her need to drink outweighed her need to mother every time. My senior year with God's strength she quit drinking. While out partying with friends that summer, she called me to come home immediatly, when I got there she gave me the news...stage 4 breast cancer. Several months earlier she had gone in to have her annual mammogram and there was nothing there. In just a few short months a tumor that felt to me like her chest bone had grown. They said because of her drinking, tanning and smoking her tumor growth was accelerated. As I sat in her lap crying, knowing deep inside the outcome, she comforted me and told me she was going to be fine. She was going to beat this disease too. They did chemo, 6 rounds of it I think, maybe more. She started loosing her hair, and to avoid drawing the process out to long she called our hair dresser and had her come over and shave her head. I wanted to shave mine too to show support, but she wouldn't let me, so I cut 9 inches of long blond locks off and donated it to Wigs for Kids. I can honestly say I never saw my mom feel sorry for herself or shed a tear because she didn't understand God's plan for her life. When she quit drinking she found the Lord and dedicated her life to him. During her illness she found a love for life that I had never seen her have. She took the treatments and sickness and went on and loved life in spite of the hand she had been dealt. After the chemo was done they removed the shrunken tumor gave radiation and told us to wait, hopefully she was in remission. They tested the lymph nodes from her armpit and were relieved that the cancer was not present in them. No spreading! Even though she was diagnosed with Stage 4, it was not going to be terminal! Unfortunately, soon after the lymph node removal she got Lymphnodia. With out the lymph nodes present there was no filter to clean out the blood and toxins, so her arm and hand swelled. She went through exercises to keep the swelling at a minimum and was very fortunate that it was not to bad. And still, if there were roses she would stop to smell them and praise God for them. She took every moment in as though it were her last. Deep down I'm sure she knew it would be. We went to Nebraska to visit family for the holidays and half way into our trip her breast started swelling with pain and redness, so she went to the hospital up there. They ran tests and had her doctor send her records up there (at 19 you sure are naive, I refused to see what was happening), we cut our trip short, I was just glad to get back to my friends and Texas before the New Year. I had no clue the severity of what was going on, nor did I really want to know. Even though I didn't get along with my mom when I was younger, after my dad went away she was my world. My home was not a house it was where ever my mom was. So when I got the news that the cancer was back devastation set in. I dealt with it in all the wrong ways, going completely off the deep end. But even then she kept her head up. She had a mastectomy right away and was excited because she was going to get a tummy tuck once she recovered to give her the breast back. Amazing, a woman with such faith. She battled wearing the prosthetic breast much like she battled wearing her wig. It wasn't her, and with her confidence in the Lord she shed them both and let the world know her just as she was. She was proud, happy and filled. The confidence she had she could have only found in the Lord. And she continued to smell the roses every chance she got. She under went more chemo and radiation just to make sure it was gone. All was well, she was recovered! But then the back pain started. Horrible, uncontrollable back pain. It's just the chemo in your system hurting your joints, that's a side effect the doctors said. It will pass they said. It didn't pass and all I know is I was told they wanted to run tests on her and it would be easier if she just stayed in the hospital for a few days to avoid the going back and forth. She went into the hospital on a Wednesday, I went out of town with some friends on that Friday, again I had no idea and didn't want to see what was right in front of me. Our trip got cut short, so I headed back Saturday and she was fine. Normal mom. Family started coming in town, every one was paying their visits. Still I didn't see it. Everyone else knew my mom was dying right before my eyes but no one told me. They all played it off like they were just there to support her. She didn't want me to know and told them not to tell me anything. She sat in her hospital bed and planned her entire funeral. What a woman with such strength and faith in the Lord. On that Monday she took a turn for the worse. By that night she was on oxygen, she would not make it through the night they told me. This was the first time any one told me she was dying. Talk about a blow. She did make it, by Tuesday she was hallucinating due to lack of oxygen getting to her brain, she couldn't move or talk she just laid there on her side so helpless. And again they said she wouldn't make it through the night. But she did. Family paid their final visits and said good bye. And as I was standing by her side holding her hand she mustered up what must have been every ounce of strength to tell me "I love you". I read her a poem I found about being a great mom, and told her I would be OK she could let go. I was strong and had seen her strength she need not worry about me any more. My mom died in the middle of the night that night. Once week to the day after she was admitted into the hospital the Lord called his child home. And in her place He left a memory of a loving wife, amazing mother and strong confident Christian woman. It was evident at her funeral how many lives she touched and impacted. The church was so full people were standing. Flowers piled high her grave plot for weeks.
Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and wonder if I have made her proud. I know I have. She taught me life doesn't matter if you cant love it with every fiber of your being. She taught me faith and trust in the Lord. She taught me to take off all the fake and show the world exactly who I am and be proud of it, because it is exactly how God designed me.
My mother was the greatest woman to ever have a place in my life. We didn't always get along but after it all I can look back and see that my mom always always always had my back.
This is for you mom, may your memory never be forgotten in the lives it touched.

Monday Musings
I went to wake the boys up this morning and found Robert in Chances bed, no suprise there.
Chances bed has no sheets on it (I suck sometimes) so he put a sleeping bag over it using it as a sheet. Robert was sleeping under the sleeping bag instead of on top and I guess decided that the bare bed was scratchy...perfect for an itch.
He looks up at me with sleepy eyes and says...
"This bed is a good finger itcher for me"

The Great Poop Flood of 2010
**Beware, long post ahead, but very worth the read!**
One year ago today we woke up to our 1765 sq foot house flooded under 3-5 inches of city sewage.
Take a minute and read that again, because your eyes are not deceiving you...
We have since dubbed that day The Great Poop Flood of 2010. And now for the story that I know you are wanting, because how do drop a bomb like that and not give details right....
just know if you have a weak stomach this is not for you as it does involve poop.
In December of 2009 God answered our 10 year long prayer for a home to call our own. It was the most awesome house and we were so excited to pay Chase that mortgage, sure there were things we wanted to change as any home owner who buys an older home, but all in all we were really happy. It had new paint all throughout, new laminate in the living room and formal dining, new Corian counters in the kitchen with refinished cabinets and an updated master bathroom. Who can complain right???
We got in and got settled and were just starting to adjust to life as homeowners when on March 3rd 2010, I came home at 4:15 to find my toilet leaking water at the base where the toilet meets the floor.
Weird...but OK.
I cleaned it up no big deal and went about my business. Then about 45 minutes later I walked in the bathroom to find it happening again, but this time water was coming out pretty quickly, I grabbed all the towels in the house (all 15) and the shop vac and went to town cleaning it up. At this point the water was clear and had no smell so I was in it,
I mean flip flops hand and knees.
I was swishing the water into the shop vac with my hand to avoid it getting onto the master bedroom carpet...
I was in the water!
After about 30 minutes of that it finally stopped. On the other side of our bathroom is our living room so I went to check the damage in there and sure enough the water had gotten under the baseboards and wall and had come out in the living room. I got that cleaned up because as I am sure you know wood whether it is real or fake does NOT like water. And then I called my husband FREAKING OUT! We wound up having to rip up the entire hall way and several boards in the living room that is how much "water" there was. By this time it's 7pm so we called our plumber friend to come out and also called the insurance company to file a claim and try to determine if this would be covered.
Our friend arrived around 8 or so and before he got there we had yet another mini flood. We had no towels left, so we were shop vacing it up as quickly as possible except every few minutes the vac would be full and we would have to stop, dump and start again. It was a disaster! They pulled up the toilet to get the "clog" out then, only they couldn't find the "clog", so our friend, my husband and I went to digging our yard up in various places trying to find the sewage pipe or clean out.
After an hour or so, 6 holes in my yard and a 7 foot long 3 foot deep trench dug, we went back in to find that the "water" was pouring out of the whole in the floor where the toilet used to sit. In horror and disgust we looked as toilet paper, food, detergents and POOP flooded out.
You have to know at this point we still assumed there was a clog in our line somewhere and this was
OUR backup....
So as I shop vaced and dump the mess, the guys snaked the line and then boom it was done, the water level went back to normal just like that. We got the "clog"! Hip Hip Hooray!!
Our house was in disarray and smelled really bad, our yard looked like an giant ADD mole invaded and we were out of towels. But it was done!
What a night! At 11pm our friend left with a good luck I'll be back in the morning and exhausted we went to bed, or tried at least.
Something told me a little while later to get up, as I rounded the bathroom corner I saw it, "water" pouring out of that stupid hole again. But now it wasn't just "water", it was very clear this was sewage. It was horrific, thats all I can say. After it stopped yet again (every time it stopped we thought we were done no more, how much could there possibly be in OUR line???...) It was to the point the majority of our house was ruined there was so much sewage we couldn't get it all cleaned up and since the insurance company was sending someone one out that next morning, we did our best to stay locked in the bedroom and avoid the smell and not cry. Finally in the wee hours of the morning we fell asleep.
When my mother in law brought the boys back (we pawned them off on here early on because we didn't want them there dealing with that) at 6:30am before school, I hopped out of bed to open the door and
squish squish was the sound I heard when my feet hit the carpet. I grabbed my boots that THANK GOODNESS I left right by my bed and walked into the hall.....my stomach dropped, it was THE WORST thing ever! Sewage was pouring out of the hole so fast there were waves in my bathroom, my puppy was chasing poop through the living room and not a square inch of my house was dry. The sewage was ankle deep. We immediately called the city and then the insurance company. It took the city 3 hours to get the clog out. Some how there was a clog in the city main line right in front of our line and because our house sits downhill (you know the ole saying, poop rolls down hill, really it does). EVERYONE's mess in our neighborhood who is behind us on the sewer line was coming into our house. All the shower water, dishwasher water, laundry water and toilet water was in our house.
The insurance company came out right away and got the ball going, they hired a restoration company to come and rip EVERYTHING out and I mean EVERYTHING! The only thing left downstairs was the master bath tub. 4 ft of wall, baseboard, window trim, doors, cabinets, counters, even 3 stairs on the stair case, all gone. All our furniture trashed, panel curtains trashed, all gone.
It took 3 months for us to get it all fixed. We lived in a hotel for 6 weeks and a town house the rest of the time all paid for by the insurance. After many tears, lots of hard work on our part and time it got done. We took the opportunity to make some of the changes we wanted to make, did a lot of the work ourselves to same some money so we could stretch the dollar and get more (easy to do when your hubs is in construction and knows lots of people). We turned a 30 year old house into one that looks like it was just built. We got new laminate (better laminate that can withstand water for 24 hours, I test it), new tile, new carpet, new walls with new texture, custom cabinets built, granite counters, awsome exterior doors and interior doors, all upscale really nice stuff. We even put a rock fireplace in with a cedar mantle and a cedar beam on the celing to add some dimension. It is AWSOME now! A long road but what a payout!
I say this all to say, as I went to bed last night I was so glad it is behind us, and I was even more glad to wake up this morning to it in the same condiditon it was when I went to sleep. I am so grateful that God did this for us. He not only answered our prayer for a house, but he gave us a house that we would not be able to afford otherwise. We are so truly blessed and amazed at how God works!
I hope you enjoyed a good laugh, I know I was giggling all the way through. You can do that a year later ya know!

Pee on the FLOOR! REALLY???
I am not sure what happened between 10pm last night and 7am this morning...it seems we have a bandit of some type that likes to pee on floors!...
All I know is last night when I went to kiss the boys goodnight their bathroom clean and pee free and this morning when Robert went to brush his teeth he stepped in pee, yes stepped in it, because it was on the bathroom floor.
He blames the dog which I can understand, she has been known to pee on the floor... in small amounts...downstairs by the door... if we are ignoring her... however she has not to my knowledge ever peed upstairs on the bathroom floor.
So my next assumption is one of my kids. And of coarse they both said "I didn't do it",
why wouldn't they say this, they don't remember doing such a thing. And to be honest I don't think that one of them actually dropped drawers and openly and knowingly peed on the bathroom floor. The whole thing is puzzling to me. It was a lot of pee, but it was no where near the toilet, actually it was half on the rug and half on the tile by the sink. I am truly puzzled as to who did this and how or why.
Do I have a peeing sleep walker in my house, a disobedient dog, or some kind of crazy pee bandit.
Someone please ease my mind and tell me their kids have done something as crazy as this before!....

What is wrong with the world today???
Please be prepared for me to go on a total mom rant right now....
Why do we feel like as parents that we must give our kids everything? Is it really necessary for an 11 year old to have not just 1 but 2 cell phones and on top of that one of them has full unblocked unrestricted Internet access? Is it necessary that they have every technology in their bedroom? Is it necessary for our boys to own every gaming system known to man and every rated M game sold even though they are only 7? Is it really necessary that we tell our daughters that they are independent women and go after what they want thus causing them to think "pursuing that cute boy at school and asking him out over and over" is really the way to "get what they want"? Is is necessary that we allow them to dress at the age of 10 as though they are 20 with shorts too short and barely there shirts leading our boys into temptation at the ripe age of 10? Why are we not standing up to them when they smart off to us and allow them take control of our house?? Why are we allowing our kids to compare themselves to the famous people on the front of GQ or Cosmo, thinking that their bodies need to look that way (I would look that perfect is I was airbrushed too).
What is going on out there??? I am the proud mother of 2 boys who have been raised in church, we have rules and restrictions for our kids, we only own 1 gaming system (WII) and support the family who owns none, my kids are not allowed at 7 and 10 to have girl friends and have been warned about the girls who pursue them in stalkerish fashion and dress as if they belong somewhere other than elementary school. My kids have always talked with respect to adults and know that in this house they have expectations that will be met or there will be consequences. Up until now I suppose I have been pretty naive to how drastically things have changed, sure I have seen it over and over...the little girls who get out of the car looking like a whodathunkit in what must be their pj's complete with hair everywhere while their mothers (driving the new Accord or BMW) are beautifully kept, and the boys who haven't brushed their teeth in weeks, wear their pants to low and talk...well what they are doing I would not classify as talking it's more text slang put coming out of their mouths. Until now I have been fortunate enough that my kids have been solid in our family and who they are that the effects on them have been relatively small. Sure they have the random selfish silly request of an IPhone when they are in kindergarten or get upset when we wont buy them candy but all in all the effects have remained small. Now that I have a 4th grader and we are new to a community he is trying to impress the guys, but these guys he is trying to impress have no rules or guidelines so I am finding my very sweet son stuck in limbo, he knows where he is from but he is desperately seeking acceptance from his peers in a dangerous manner using disrespect and laughter as his tool. I am embarrassed for him and sad that the families like us seem to be so few and far between. I am sad that he feels pressured by his "friends" to have a girlfriend, to play spin the bottle and kiss them on the playground. I am sad for him that he has to be someone he is not just to impress these kids who really aren't his friends at all.
I am not saying we are perfect parents or that our way is the only way. And I know that we have messed up in so many ways as parents (we all do) but I am shocked at kids and parents. I am shocked at the lack of parenting parents do and feel it is OK. And most of all I am shocked at how greatly it is affecting my son. Do we see anything wrong with a 10 year old having boyfriends and girlfriends, do we not see the impact that this makes on the spiritual welfare of our children. They are children! If they are kissing in 4th grade what will they be doing in 6th grade? And how do we stand back and wonder with utter curiosity why there are so many teens pregnant and how can we be amazed that shows like Teen Mom are as popular as they are??? We are entertaining it and encouraging it. What happened to barbies and army men? And why do we justify it with "the world is changing?" The world isn't changing....society is. When shows like Teen Mom and Modern Family get the top ratings that is society changing not the world. I am sad that today I have to talk to my 10 year old son about sex and pregnancy and God's desire for his life and heart. I am sad that today the innocence of my son will be gone and the pressures of the world will be on his shoulders.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!! Get a grip on your kids, let them be kids, give them boundaries and say no. If they hate you I promise it is OK. Did any of us like our parents when we were kids?
In closing I must say, we by no means claim to be perfect. We are not perfect, I was a teen mother myself, but I have been married to the same man and father of both of my kids since I was 19, I am now 30. We have stuck it out through the good, the bad, and the down right nasty. But we enlisted God and gave our lives and our kids to him several years ago. We work in the youth department and see the results that this worldly parenting has on children at age 14 and even 17. We make mistakes daily, yell and spank but the foundation of our home is God. We have high hopes and dreams for our kids with high expectations. I just know that as a whole where we are leading our kids, our children, our precious children who look to us for guidance, is down the crapper. We need to stand up and take charge of our lives and our kids lives and put the order back in our family, starting with God on top not our kids.
I am open and appreciate any feedback you would like to leave, positive or negative. I am prepared for the good and bad with this post.

Ready for Spring
We are getting spoiled here in North Texas this week! The weather has been amazing! It is total open the window weather, where it is a sin to stay in doors. And from what our newcasters are saying it is here to stay. Although, until spring break passes you never really know what it's gonna do again.
I do know one thing for sure...I have a serious case of SPRING FEVER! I all started with the endless amounts of snow and ice we got a few weeks ago and my vision to change my kitchen table to a more light and bright and fun table. I am so ready to get some new throw pillows and blankets for the couch, trade out my collection of pinecones on the mantel for something green and start bringing in the flowers. I love flowers on tables and I the perfect vision for my formal table too! A row of 3 galvenized buckets filled with of some kind of flower sitting on top of a burlap runner and maybe some moss balls or something else fun for added texture. Either way I am ready to say bu buy to the drap and dark and hello to the light and bright!
Here's some fun inspriation for you! If this doesn't get you ready then you must be dead!
(House Beautiful)
I love the patten and wood and texture of this piece!
(House Beautiful)
Even though there is alot of dark, like in my house,

Love it when the hubs is gone
I love it when the hubs is gone...don't get me wrong I miss him insanely when he goes to the lease for the weekend, but I really enjoy the time I have to just do WHATEVER I want to do and not be rushed to blog less or clean more or hurry here and hurry there. I can clean at 3am if I want who cares! He goes every few weeks for the weekend and it's usually the same weekend my kids stay with their Nana all weekend so I fly solo for 3 whole days! This weekend so far I have been catching up on all my crafting, I'm sure you can tell from the many posts already posted...and taking time to search out some new blogs, I found a few if you want to check out my sidebar, they are all on their!
But really my main reason for this post is to say this....I love it most when he is gone because of how easy it is to make our bed! He says I toss and turn at night and I am the culprit of the bedding looking like a tornade hit in the middle of the night, but I am here to say it is NOT ME! When I get up in the mornings my bed looks like this:
Instead of the normal shambles it's usually in. And it's so much easier to make up! Usually I have to take our heavy comforter off, then take the blanket off, fix the sheets, put the blankt back on, put the comfortor back on then all 9 pillows. Can you say HASSEL!
But when it's just me and my dog Sadie it's as easy as
1.
2.
3.
And voila, a make up bed in less than 2 minutes!
What I wanna know is am I the only one who deals with this insanity??? Please share!
